Commack High School Varsity Football vs. Riverhead

Solid win for the Commack varsity football team over Riverhead. And the weather held out too.

This was an overcast day but, thankfully, the rain held off except for some light mist at times. Overcast days mean flat light so you may need to add contrast to your photos. That was definitely the case with these shots.

Sometimes reactions from spectators and the sidelines can be just as interesting, if not more so, than the play itself. That was the case with the fourth photo in the gallery. I was almost going to trash it because the receiver is out of focus but I decided to keep it in after looking at the reactions of the spectators, who were definitely in focus.

These were all shot with a Sony a1 and 100-400mm zoom except for some of the cheerleader shots, which were taken with an iPhone 14. As usual, exposure for the Sony was 1/2000 sec., wide open aperture and auto-ISO.
