Logistics of Carnival
One of the amazing things about Carnival is the planning and logistics that go on behind the scenes to organize and support bands of thousands of people that parade through Port of Spain and make their way to the Queen's Park Savannah. From the support trucks with music and D.J.'s, food, drinks and bathroom facilities to the security provided by the bands themselves as well as the local police, to the stage managers, rope security and extraction teams, to the video and TV crews and photographers, everyone does an amazing job at moving huge amounts of extremely happy people in a safe and efficient manner. I found the whole logistics aspect of Carnival just as interesting, if not more so, than Carnival itself. What's amazing is everything seems to work flawlessly. I covered a lot of territory besides the Savannah and everywhere I photographed everyone was just having a great time whether they were the band members themselves or the support people. Of course, some of this possibly had to do with the beverage trucks but, hey, whatever works. My hat's off to the organizers and support personnel that make Carnival such a success.
