Commack Middle School 8 Football vs. Candlewood
Made a rare visit to the Middle School to catch a game between Commack and Candelwood, which Commack won (nice going guys). The Middle School football field is on a hill surrounded by trees. Late in the seasons (i.e. now) the trees cast a shadow over the field that grows as the game progresses. It's definitely a great time to use Auto-ISO since you have players running back and forth between sunlight and shadows. If you don't post-process your photos it's also a good idea to use Auto White Balance since the light is much bluer in the shade.
Other than that, it's business as usual - 1/1600, wide open aperture. Unless, of course, it starts to get really dark. Then you'll need to begin to lower your shutter speed to keep your ISO from going into la la land. This was a bright day so, even in the shadows, I didn't have to go below 1/800 sec., which wasn't too bad.
