Commack High School Girls Varsity Volleyball vs. Ward Melville
Congratulations to the Commack girls volleyball team on their win over Ward Melville. It was an exciting match that went the full five games. As I mentioned in the post on the boys volleyball game, they painted the walls of the north gym yellow. This, coupled with the fluorescent lighting, makes getting an accurate white balance pretty difficult. It's best not to obsess over it and just try your best to fix it in post. I've had some luck correcting skin tones with the Red Primary sliders in Lightroom's Camera Calibration panel. They seem to work better than the red slider in the HSL panel. I've also had some luck with Nik's Color Efex Pro. It has a Remove Color Cast slider that works to a certain degree but, in the case of our gym, sometimes gets fooled by the blue pads and yellow walls and tries to compensate by shifting the tint to green. In the end you have to try all the tools available to you and the best combination will be different for each photo due to the shifting color temperature of the fluorescent lamps.
Good luck, and have fun.
