This was the last concert of the spring season and it featured all 11th and 12th grade ensembles. Great performances, as always.
I color graded these photos by adding some blue to the shadows and warming up the midtones. This helps to counteract the effects of the red stage lights on the back row of musicians by providing a little more foreground color. Each ensemble was color graded slightly differently because the lighting on each was different depending on their position on, or in front of, the stage.
Check out the image of the cellist on the far right who was sitting in the shadows. I almost gave up trying to get his photo because of the low light but I tried a shot at ISO 12,800 at 1/40 sec. and still had to increase the exposure in post. It looks so bad that it looks good, almost like a painting.
